 Raktpitta: A Bleeding Disorder


Raktpitta this is the Disease explained in the Charak Samhita. In simple language we can explain it as a 'Bleeding Disorder within the body' this bleeding starts without presence of any injury or trauma within the body. 

Hence all the haemorrhage disorder where bleeding starts from mouth, nose, eye, ear, anus, genitals or skin.

As the name itself suggests Rakt which is blood is when contaminated with Pitta causes the disease Raktpitta.

Pitta when vitiated by its own aggravating factor further vitiates the blood this condition is called as Raktpitta.

Raktapitta, also known as hemorrhage or bleeding disorder, is a condition where there is abnormal bleeding from the body. It is considered a serious condition in Ayurveda and can cause various complications if left untreated. This article will discuss the causes, symptoms, and treatment of raktapitta.


Causes:

Melena (black, tarry stools)

Menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding)

Bleeding from the gums and mouth

Bleeding from the eyes, ears, and other body orifices

Weakness, fatigue, and breathlessness


Treatment of Raktapitta:


The treatment of Raktapitta involves the management of Pitta dosha and the preservation of Rakta dhatu (blood tissue). The following are some of the commonly used Ayurvedic treatments for Raktapitta:


Dietary modifications: 

The patient should avoid Pitta aggravating foods and consume foods that pacify Pitta, such as cooling and sweet foods.

Ayurvedic herbs like Amalaki (Indian gooseberry), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), and Chandana (sandalwood) are known to pacify Pitta and help in the management of Raktapitta.


Panchakarma
